The van is completely off grid, and it was fitted out to feel as homely as possible. I am a professional carpenter with over 25 years experience.
She has been meticulously designed, with the foresight of sharing a space, long-term. The van is fully insulated with a mixture of 4” and 2” Kingspan insulation, which has created an amazing warmth during the cold days but keeps it really quite cool when the sun is out!
There is a fixed shower with perfect water pressure, both hot and cold, which makes you feel like you could easily be in your home bathroom. Inside the bathroom is a compost toilet and 12V extractor to keep the steam (and any smelly’s) to a minimum.
The van has the luxury of a fully-fitted kitchen with beautiful Oak worktop and stunning black sink with matching Shower-tap, that reaches outside the kitchen window if you want a hot shower spray outside. There is also a cold shower fitted to the outside of the van.
The kitchen has a brand new 12v fridge freezer, gas oven and double gas hob. There is 240v sockets, 12v sockets and a ceramic tile backsplash.
In the sitting area there is a beautiful handmade Oak dining/work table which folds neatly away.
Above the dining table there is a stunning backsplash/feature made with handmade Moroccan tiles. The sitting area also has 240 & 12v sockets installed for computers/phones etc.
The seating area quickly converts into an extra bed space that would easily provide accommodation of up to 2 children.
Just past the sitting area is a raised, fixed double bed. I am 6ft 4” and this bed is absolutely perfect for me!
On the roof there are 2 x 320 watt Renogy solar panels, that feed into the Renogy MPPT, and onto the 2 x 100 A/H Lithium batteries. There is a 3000 Watt 240v Renogy inverter, and a Renogy DC to DC charger and a Renogy 240v mains charger, all monitored by the latest Renogy One device, and the Renogy APP.
The van is so well insulated it needs minimal heating, as it really does hold the temperature, the heating is up and running within minutes from the remotely controlled Maxpeeding diesel heater. This system works in collaboration with the Bobil vans, Hybrid water heater. The water heater can be switched to run directly from the stored power source, or it is powered by ANY additional electric created by both the solar panels and the DC to DC charger. This means after a decent drive, when arriving at your destination you should have a good 10 litres of piping hot water! The Bobil system also has a radiator mechanism that heats from the Diesel heater, giving you a full tank of hot water in about 35 mins.
