This is an exquisite late 1700s/early 1800s French hooded cloak.

Hooded hand quilted cloak made with maroon cotton printed chintz with Indian floral pattern, and lined with Indian cotton and indigo fabrics. The trim of the cloak is silk. The hood is very deep and has detailed pleating on the trim of the hood and collar area of the hood. The hood has a circular structure built into the back to make it able to accommodate a bonnet.

The exquisite hand quilting of this garment must have taken months. It is hard to fathom how long it would take to do such fine detailed work. The master craftsmanship has held the test of time as this cloak is museum worthy in its condition.

The only condition issues would be there is one area of the interior that is more worn than the others, and there is a small patch and a some seed like darning around that area. There might be one or two dropped stitches in the round part of the bonnet feature in the hood but I can't really tell. It is structurally in amazing condition. Wearable. Displayable.

Measurements:
Length: 40
Width of fabric at the base of the cloak: 110 inches
Depth of the hood: 14
