This is a square bodied wall clock for use aboard a ship. It is by Chelsea. The case is metal (aluminum I think), and it is made to be mounted to a back that would then be fastened to the wall, then the clock would open like a cabinet, so that you could access the back and the movement. It is a mechanical clock, but it has a red lucite (plastic) dial that is made to light upon from bulbs in the back. The back is completely missing and the electrical parts and connections are missing as well. (the only part from that missing back that is here is the hinge). But the clock itself does work. It is currently running and has been ticking for about 9 days. (It its obviously an 8 day clock). When I first brought it home, I had to rap the case with my knuckles to start it working, so I think it should be seen by a qualified clock expert, (probably needs cleaning). The case is in goods condition, but the red plastic dial has some breaks around the screw holes in back, (see photos). The case measures 17" square, but the dial is 15". Of course it has a mechanical movement, and the winding stem is the larger knob at the bottom, while the smaller one is for setting the time.
