Description

The life's work of Paavo Järvi took 11 years to complete.

Paavo Järvi's recording of the complete symphonies of Mahler, Nielsen, and F. Schmidt with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra has been highly acclaimed.

In addition to the three composers, Järvi himself has been working with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra to perform the complete Bruckner symphonies, which he regards as his life's work.

In 2021, the 125th anniversary year of Bruckner's death, the complete cycle will be released as a box set with the addition of two previously unreleased works, "No. 0" and "No. 8".

Although Bruckner's symphonies have an image that only an experienced and aged conductor can give a masterful performance, Järvi makes the music come to life at a faster tempo and presents Bruckner's characteristic huge block structure with clarity while elaborating on the details.

The early symphonies in particular are extremely fresh, with a fresh approach that sees them as "an extension of Schubert and Mendelssohn," and it is still fresh in our minds that they were performed at the NHK Symphony Orchestra subscription concerts to great acclaim.

Even after the middle period, he vividly captured the individuality of each work, such as the lucid sound handling of the final movement fugue of "No. 5," the songfulness of "No. 7," and the expression of cosmic profundity in "No. 9.

The music is a masterpiece of the composer's art.
