An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware

Description

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a waisted stem and circular spreading foot.

The body of this silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting a saltire, cantoned with two stars, in chief and base, and two stars addorsed in the flanks, all above the motto "Sit vita nomini congrua" - May our life be like our name.

This coat of arms is surmounted with the crest depicting a cross calvary*.

The upper portion of the goblet is encompassed with a band of bright cut engraved chevron decoration.

The applied upper rim of the goblet and subtly stepped foot are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.

* These heraldic markings pertain to the family name Christie.

Condition

This antique silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentationcondition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear.
