Antique Silver Albert Chain Fancy Link with T Bar Dog Clip and Fob

A fabulous example of Victorian silver fancy link chain expertise which will appeal to the hallmark fetishist.  Each and every link is stamped with the lion mark denoting English sterling silver, the T-bar and dog clip have the same maker's mark and everything about the chain is entirely original, which is a pleasure to behold as one sees so many that have been cobbled together with various bits from differing makers and with differing dates.  The ornate fetter links are really beautifully made, the balance of the piece, with 3 fetters to each end and two sets of 5 in the mid section, has been so well considered, and the single long link with the central twist which attaches to the fob is a lovely extra touch.  This is a really wonderful antique Albert chain which would look truly fantastic worn with a watch but is also just long enough (35cm or 14") for the more slender-necked to wear as a neck chain.

The main chain and T Bar carry the date letter X for 1897 (see pics). The shield fob has a blank cartouche to the centre, and full hallmarks to the back, with the date letter r for 1916. Full hallmark details below and in the pictures - please examine the pictures closely as they form part of the description.
