Another Hot-Dose in the form of 11/18/72 -- and just a few months after the most recent Grateful-Delivery ! of 11/17/72 - in the form of Dave's Picks 11 ( Century II Convention Center, Wichita, Kansas ! ) !!! Dang, now that is something else ... both ! 11/17/72 & 11/18/72 Live G.D. Action surfacing in 2014 -- 42-Years ' After ' the Fact ! So ... you know what that means, right ? Yep ... this stuff is Smokin' !!! So-Kind to the ears ... & mind ! Well, hopefully most of you have had the opportunity to hear the 11/17/72 Wichita, Kansas Show - as it was indeed delivered in the 3-CD format ... in " Dave's Picks 11 " ! But, a few months later - still in 2014 ! - the powers that be chose to even further deliver ... on this Magnificent G.D. Era !!! >>> in, the form of 11/18/72 Hofheinz Pavilion - in Houston, Texas !!! And now, here is the exact question that I pose - in a ' Grate ' way, and from a serious Fan-perspective ... ok, so when is the last time that Grateful Dead Productions decided to issue a " Just Set II " release ... in the 1-CD Format ??!? I mean ... I'm quite certain I am wrong here ( probably ... Ha ! ) - but, to my mind ( without thinking about it too-hard here ) ... it might have been " Dick's Picks 2 " ?!? Which captured 10/31/1971 - and only one Set of it ! And ... that release came out way-way back in 1995 ! So ... my point here being - exactly... if only ' One ' Set of a Show if pro-released - by itself ... well then, you can almost bet your bottom-dollar that this Set is going to be a flat-out Scorcher !!!!!!! You know, of the high-energy, precision, tight ! & Va-Rooooommmm !!! nature. Ha ! Yes, so that indeed is the very-case with this release . . . Grateful Dead Houston, Texas 11/18/1972 - Set II ! - even featuring Cover Art by Gary Houston ! too. Well, here is the tale of the tape - in black & white ... Wow, a simply unreal ! & nothing short of Magical ! G.D. release !! One CD in all, and This ! CD is Chocked-Full ! of " Prime-Era " Grateful Dead Rock & Roll Magic !!! Soooo '72 ( so " Fall " '72 ) - and so darn fluid. It is Digitally-Mastered in Pristine ! quality, to the point that it is actually hard to believe. Phil's got the Mojo in the Mucho ! - pounding ! away in joy, and right on the forehead of the beat throughout. The time-keeping is insane ... & I mean Everyone ! is " On ". Donna blends to perfection ! Bob's so good that at times you can barely hear him clearly ... virtually melted-away in Dead Sync ! with Garcia & Phil. And, last but not least ... because I cannot resist --- Garcia's Tone !!?!!?!!!!! Wow !!! So twangy & hollow when he wants it to be, and so incredibly Rich ! in sustain, low-end & attack ! when he calls for it. You know where I'm coming from here, my fellow Fans ... that one & only " Complete " Control-Zone !!!!! This release is most-certainly something special, and it is so very-very Cool ! that it was also released in ' Vinyl ' format - for Record Store Day ( RSD 2014 ! ). 8-Tracks of 1972 G.D. " Prime-Time " Bliss !!! Enjoy this one, and enjoy it often ... Rock & Roll in Texas ! how it's supposed to be played ... in only ' Year 7 ' of the Good Ol' Grateful Dead !!! You know, that ' Magic ' digit 7 - which some say can be key for any Great-Band !!! Such a special '72 release ... Enjoy !!!!!!!
