This is a fantastic and rare to find Antique Italian Albarello Drug Jar designed originally as a medicinal jar to hold apothecaries’ ointments and dry drugs.

This has been manufactured with a slant to the rim, typical of the manual pottery techniques at the time and is hand painted with a Floral design with two Roman Profile Portraits.

It is in very good condition but does exhibit some age-related wear as you would expect, which includes some surface chipping to the paint at the rim and the base but no cracks or restoration. It measures approximately 28cm high.

There is a makers initials to the base but the 2nd letter is obscured so have been unable to determine who this was.

Please take a look at the photos to evaluate the condition for yourself as they form part of the description and if you wish to ask us anything about the item then please do not hesitate to contact us.
