The Legendary ! J.G.B. New Year's Eve 1975 - 1976 Show !! at the Keystone-Berkeley !!! - with Special Guests Bob Weir ! - Mickey Hart ! - Nicky Hopkins ! - and Matt Kelley ! ... Wow !!!!!
Wow !!! Earth to Garcia Fans ... you know, those who love & even live for that Prime-Time ! Early J.G.B. Era - and naturally ... that Sweet-Sound ! twang of Garcia's Travis Bean Tone !!! Nice work, Garcia Live ! ... Yes ! Well, I must say myself that this was a Garcia Show that I did not own - all the way until the Late-'90's ! And, as I can remember - quite-well ... as this was one of the Very-1st CD-R's that was bestowed upon me - well, you know ... right around the time when there were first ! CD-R's !?! I was completely still all Analog ! back then, and ... as my friends would love to joke with you too - I still kinda am ! But, this was one that I was given in a way-early '90's batch of G.D. & Garcia Goodies ! And ... it caught my eyes real fast - being both ! a J.G.B. New Year's Eve Show - and a Bay Area Show that featured some seriously heavy-duty " Special Guests " ! - the likes of Nicky Hopkins - Matt Kelley - Mickey Hart & Bobby Weir ! And, I seem to recall that got this when I was actually living right in Berkeley too - so, you know ... all the Cooler ! But, it really one took one listen - distinctly ... and this one stood-out !!! And plus, I remember being on such a '76 through '78 Garcia Band Terror ! back then - so, it was indeed cool to listen to a little of the ' Earlier ' stuff - and vital J.G.B. roots ! And, at least in my opinion ... this is Really ! what you hear in this Show - the " Coming Of Age ! " for the Jerry Garcia Band !!! This truly is a Fantastic ! example of that Fall '75 J.G.B. sound which moved-on from the Legion Of Mary Project - and really began the true Launch ! of the Jerry Garcia Band !! The Blues ! are nice & thick on this Show - as is the Rock & Roll !!! And, there are even some nice little treats to the ears & rarities too! - which is some material that was only delivered right in this very window & era. In other words, if you haven't heard the ' Mother Nature's Son ' delivery on this one ... then Wow ! - you will be one very-happy Deadhead Camper !! As I certainly remember my 1st time hearing that little Beatles take. Plus, I mean let face it too ... Jerry is just like 33-Years of age hear - and him falling in love with this Travis Bean is just something for Rock & Roll to behold ! Tough to stay in tune or not - all you guitar players out there ... Garcia Smokes ! this thing. And, I believe this was the ' Artist ' Model Axe ( TB-500 ? ) in charge of smoking these Keystone-Berkeley Amps ! So-nice ... A Let It Rock Opener ! - which, by the way ... this particular J.G.B. unit was Really ! putting it's trademark sound on. It Ain't No Use ! Tore Up! Roadrunner !! And, many of the others that you would certainly hope for - in a '75-'76 J.G.B. Show - T.L.E.O. ... Sweet It Is ! ... Catfish John !! ... & Mystery Train !!! This one is a treat - and the sound is just so-fine ... so, whether you have this Show or not - it's time for a little ' replacement ' ... as believe me - you'll indeed consider it an essential ' Upgrade ' ! And, if you've never heard this J.G.B. ?!! - wow ... well, then by All-Means ! -- Here You Go !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
