   Vintage Hand Painted Decorative tiles, 6" x 6".  These were hand-painted in Rhode Island in the late 90's, most are signed by the original artist, Lauren R. Levesque (LRL). These were custom made for clients all over New England.

   One of a kind, these were our display samples, and are the very first ones made, and the only ones available. Each is hand painted onto a manufacturer's unglazed bisque wall tile.  Then underglazes were hand brushed, stroke by stroke, pc by pc. After drying, they were clear coated, by hand, with 3 coats of ceramic glaze, then kiln fired at over 2000 degrees. 

   These are suited for any interior space, waterproof, stain resistant, heat resistant, and light-fast, with an easy to clean gloss finish. Quality far exceeds manufacturers' decorative tiles. Background (aka. "field") is very close to "bisquit" from the famous mfr. of porcelain tubs and toilets.

   Originally sold for kitchen backsplash, bath walls and showers, fireplace surrounds, etc., they might be used for exterior applications in temperate climates, use your own discretion.  These are not abrasion resistant enough to be considered "floor grade", though you could use these for trivets or to top an occasional table.  Crazing occurs occasionally on hand painted ceramics, is natural, and in some circles, preferred.  There may be some crazing on a few of these tiles, though I can't promise it.  

NOTE:  Trace (seriously - small) amounts of glue from the hook n' loop display system might be present along 1 or 2 edges on the back of some of these tiles.  This will not affect installation.  Series name and codes are marked on the back, in marker, by the artist. This also will not affect installation.
