Following on the heels of the colossal success of Chevy's introductory 4-seat sport Camaro in late 1966 (as a 1967 model year), six months later, 1967 marked the birth of its Pontiac stablemate, christened the "Firebird" (great name).  The styling was, of course similar, using the same frame and offering basically the same options.  The main difference was in engines.  The Camaro's base engine was a 230 C.I. six, making 140 H.P.  The Firebird's base motor was a 250 C.I. OHC six making 175 H.P.  The Firebird was also more heavily optioned and sold as an "upscale" Camaro.  They both enjoyed many years as perennial "muscle car" favorites.

Here is a rare and beautiful rendition of the first Firebird, a 1967 400 Convertible. The car is brand new, the box only being opened for photos!  Both the box and the car are in excellent condition with no dented box corners which are so common.  The car itself is stunning with an almost liquid looking fire engine red exterior, a matching red interior and boot and a black convertible top.  Only 384 of these beauties were produced, so it's bound to increase in value over time.  But you can get one here, now for its original sale price!
