This offering of "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is the "Platinum Series Special Extended Edition" and is presented in a 4-disc set. This fantasy DVD set has a run time of 223 minutes. Included in the special edition are several commentary sections and a DVD ROM to be used on a computer for additional online content. A gallery featuring thousands of images from the film is included on the DVD ROM. This "Lord of the Rings" installment is based on the second volume in the book series by J.R.R. Tolkien. Starring in this film are Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, and Sean Astin. Elijah Wood plays the main character, Frodo Baggins. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" starts with Aragorn searching for Frodo. Aragorn finds Boromir wounded, after responding to Boromir's horn call for aid. Aragorn also learns that Merry and Pippin have been kidnapped and that Frodo has disappeared. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is an entertaining fantasy DVD movie on a 4-disc set. Imagery and magic are used throughout, as characters fight through several battles and overcome formidable obstacles.
