19th Century oil painting on canvas of an extensive landscape with a gentleman resting on a stone bridge, with cattle and sheep with distant view Northam, Devon attributed to  William Pitt fl 1853-1890. Signed Pitt and dated 83 lower left. Painting in good clean condition, craquleure commensurate with age.  Measures 13 1/2" x 11" and 18 1/2" x 15 3/4" its original frame. Inscribed Pitt, Northam Feb 1883 verso. He was known for painting English views especially in Devon and Cornwall. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1863 - 1880, also at the British Institute and Slade School
