US Scott 242 $2 Columbian Used VF PSE Graded 80 Encapsulated Gem Pretty!

An outstanding $2 Columbian that looks much closer to an 85-90 than an 80 to me.  Bright color, fresh paper, luscious perforations, and an ideal light face free registry cancel.  A very pleasing stamp destined for a long stay in an astute collector’s collection.

PSE no longer encapsulates, unfortunately, so if you like a stamp that you can safely admire, in a state of preservation, and won’t lose its grade through mishandling then encapsulated is the right stamp for you.  My preference is that condition rarities and high value stamps are encapsulated and it’s my opinion these stamps will be highly sought in 10-20 years when the sense of it finally catches on.
