Description

[Overview].
Fontaine Besson (French Besson) B-flat trumpet BREVETÉ. French bead 120mm yellow brass bell. 11.68mm (460") bore. Instrument weight 1022 grams. Silver plated finish. No case. Sold body only, made around 1960.

[Condition.]
There is a history of dent repair at the base of the bell, bell body, and bell flare. The plating is dull and there are some scratches, but there is no noticeable peeling or damage. Piston tightness is slightly loose. Heavy oiling has been done to keep it in good condition for normal playing. The inside of the pipe has been cleaned, soft mono has been replaced, and various parts have been serviced, inspected, and adjusted.

[Features]
This is a late model of BREVETÉ(*), the flagship model of F. Besson, the originator of the modern piston-valve trumpet that swept Europe and the United States in the 1920s. This item in stock is from the period when the trumpet was manufactured by Besson in England after the factory in France was closed due to a fire in 1957. The bell "LAURA" is believed to have been commissioned by the previous owner. It has a bright and beautiful tone.
