For sale we have a scarce and beautiful Pennsylvanian Antique Primitive Folk Art Manganese Pumpkin glazed Redware dish, pie plate or low bowl. This dish or bowl has a rich deep brownish manganese folky drip decoration, with speckles, on a rich pumpkin background. We feel this is a southeastern Pa. made piece with this form and glaze. This plate or dish is very crude and primitive and unevenly made and glazed throughout the entire piece. There is a slightly coggled edge on the outer edge of the plate. The back of the plate has crude glossy glaze trails and drips with kiln discoloration areas. This was a crudely made piece with a excellent primitive and folky appearance. We date this plate to the 1860's or possibly earlier. This dish or plate is fairly large at 8" across and 1 1/2"in depth. The glaze is bright, vivid and glossy with no issues present. We see a few lite utensil usage marks present and some very fine glaze crazing when examined under strong lighting. This is a fresh to the market example from a southeastern Pa. estate. This piece is original and untouched. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, lines, deep scratches or scuffing. The is no staining, repairs or alterations. We only see a outer edge flick or two. We pictured these areas and mention them for accuracy. This dish looks to be used lightly and well cared for. This is a excellent piece of American history in great condition with a primitive and folky look. This would make a great addition to a antique Redware or a General Folk Art or Primitive collection. Thanks for viewing our auctions and listings and any questions please ask.
