Reverse has a portrait of Lempira, War Chieftain of the Lencas people who resisted the Spanish conquest of Central America in the mid 1500s.
This coin was produced at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia.  These coins were introduced in 1931 to supplement the circulation of United States Half Dollars (in Honduras), as they were the same value at the time.
