DESCRIPTION πŸ‘‡:

Disc Information:

The Shryke is an easy-to-throw, distance driver that works wonderfully for a wide variety of players. A mild high-speed turn will put the Shryke in glide mode, which along with its high, aerodynamic speed, will give it incredible distance. The low-speed fade is mild and manageable, which makes it easy to keep on the fairway. The Shryke is similar to the popular Tern, but faster and more stable for higher speeds.

In the right conditions, this disc is a bomber. It's listed as a 13 speed, but don't necessairly let that scare you. This is designed to be a max distance driver for arms that don't typically have the speed for 12 or 13 speed discs. I would say the shryke is more accessible than say a destroyer, even at 1 speed higher. That said, this still isn't a disc for beginners. You still need some arm speed to get a full flight.

I prefered this disc in Champion plastic, as it added a bit more stability (Innova even lists it 13/6/-1/2 rather than 13/6/-2/2), which made the flight more predictable and less susceptible to wind. In other plastics, I found the Shryke to be a bit too touchy and flippy. In low wind conditions and an open fairway, if you hit this disc right it bombs. I just found it to be too unpredictable to keep in the bag. It also is not a great disc in the wind. I get much better control and similar distance with Destroyers and Wraiths. If you don't have the arm speed for those though, you might give the Shryke a look. I preferred the Shryke to the Tern, though slightly favored the Pharoah by Infinite Discs for reference to other similar discs in this slot.

I HIGHLY recommend this distance driver for every beginner or anyone completely brand new to the spot. This driver is super unique in the way that it flys. If you are a beginner I would definitely say get this disc in a lightweight and in star plastic. It will be the most under stable in that configuration and will give you the most distance especially with the Shryke's infamous glide that it has. You won't regret buying this disc. Now if you are a more experienced player with a faster arm speed and more control then I would tell you to get this disc in a mid to heavy weight depending on personal preference and get it in a champion plastic. This will give you more stability and you will still be able to throw just as far and use that crazy "glide mode" everyone knows this driver for. I love using it for long hisser flips and even in headwinds it just keeps pushing forward. However, It shines brightest when thrown down hill or with a slight cross tail wind. You will find that you can get some pretty crazy distance out of this disc. Now I would say a little disclaimer that this disc isn't that predictable as other distance drivers especially since it has such a high amount of glide but there are times when this disc is a necessity to throw so I still personally bag it no matter what and I think you should and will too!

This is my workhorse driver. I have a champion shryke, and if I have a drive that's anywhere beyond 400 feet, I know this disc will get my there in one throw. I love this disc. Although it's in champion plastic, this disc flies really understable. If you release it flat, you just threw a roller with this disc that you have no control over. But if you put a bit of hyzer in it, this disc flips up, gently turns, then fades out cleanly, landing me at 400+ feet. I can't say enough about this disc. My dad gave it to me, because he couldn't throw it well with his lower arm speed, and I will say that this disc has become my favorite. It has a great grip, perfect durability, and gives me my maximum distance.

This is a great driver option for intermediate and advanced players. Usually when a disc says speed 13 you must have a big arm to throw it, this is not the case when it comes to the Shryke. This disc can get great distance for a slightly slower arm speed player and maximize distance, but once you get better and start throwing harder, the disc has limited use. For the advanced players this disc may start to get a little too flippy, but is awesome for ripping with any type of tailwind.

I absolutely love the Shryke

For me (RHBH), it's my go to driver when I need a neutral, straight, very easy to hyzer-flip disc. Thrown flat, it'll turn a little bit, then travel far and fast before it gently fades, and depending on how low you throw (I typically throw low, high speed shots), it'll skip left - forward for extra distance.

As for throwing it in a head wind.....

I like max weights, and new, or newer Shrykes (before they get beat in), do well in a light head wind (like 5mph or less) if I throw it on a slight hyzer. A strong head wind will flip my Shryke 90% of the time. I usually throw something more stable in a headwind.

I get consistent, long throws with this disc. I have 3 in my bag from 166g to 174g and use the often. I throw Champion plastic

My go-to distance driver. I've gotten my farthest ever throws with this disc (around 420' when every goes right, 400' for a good rip, and an easy 380' on a hyzer flip). It has reliable fade that makes it accurate, and incredible glide that makes it go forever. My favorite ones are the pop-top ones. They are more stable than the flat top shrykes.

Love throwing this disc.

Love this disc! Throughout my progression from max 300' up to 400' this disc served different roles for me along the way. Turning into a nice hyzerflip distance driver with my current armspeed. Beautiful S-lines when thrown nose down. Give it a shot!

A champ shryke has consistently been in my bag for about 6 months or so. If the hole is longer than 350' in no wind or a tailwind, the shryke is usually what I'm reaching for first.

Released on just the slightest hyzer angle, the shryke will flip over, ride its turn smoothly forever, and nicely fade back at the end without just dumping into the ground.

I won't throw it into a headwind, and even in calm conditions, the release angle can be a little touchy. Once it starts turning hard, it's just going to keep going that way, and too much hyzer angle and I don't quite have the arm speed to flip this disc all the way up to flat. That being said, when you hit the sweet spot with a shryke, it'll easily be in the running for your longest driver.

The Shryke from Innova is a distance driver designed to maximize distance. I was able to get a nice S-Curve flight with this disc, but I could also force it over into some nice anhyzers. I imagine it wouldn't take much to turn this into a heck of a roller disc as well. It is a nice disc, but I have many others that do the same things.

This is the first distance driver i've owned. I still love it.

Champion is a bitmore stable than star thus can be cranked on a bit harder with a bit more resistance to turn.

would recommend to beginners players looking increase their distance and feel flashy with a big ol' rim.

This disc is a great "step-up" for beginners looking to add some distance to their drives. The turn allows for a nice hyzer flip and smooth turnover shots. However, it can be a little tricky to get the right amount of speed. If you throw this too hard, it might turn over and not fade back to the left (for RHBH players).

If you are fairly new to disc but have the basic fundamentals down, and you are looking to get some max distance out of your drives, this disc is perfect. You'll be able to throw this further than say, a destroyer (which is also a good beginner distance driver).
