Glossy medium steel brown and light chocolate. There are two dull scratches down through the A in HALF, a lighter contact mark left of the date, and traces of waxy green verdigris around the fraction. The date is easily readable but not strong, especially the 5, which is typical of pieces struck on thick planchets. LDS. The die crack on the reverse is quite bold causing weakness on HALF CENT. Weight 110.2 grains versus the 84.0-grain standard for the normal thin planchet strikes.
