Lovely dining set of light ecru colour with gilding porcelain of smooth shapes. Set includes tureen, or soup bowl, and a plate with handles.
Tureen has a mark of Carstens Sorau porcelain manufacture, period 1925-1940. It was established in 1888 by Gustav Otremba in Sorau, nowadays Zary in Poland. Until 1918 manufactory has changes many owners until brothers Christian and Ernst Carstens purchased it (and the company was renamed in Carstens Sorau). The manufactory became prosperous after the World War I, exported porcelain items in other European states and the US. In 1945 Carstens Sorau manufactory was destroyed.
Plate has a mark of Königszelt porcelain manufacture, period 1930-1945. The company was founded in 1860 by Silber in Königszelt (today Jaworzyna Śląska in Poland) because of rich deposits of clay and coal nearby. In 1905 the manufactory was acquired by Lorenz Hutschenreuther, another famous porcelain manufacturer. Before 1934 company worked actively and became prosperous, produced a lot of fine tableware also for export. Königszelt was also one of few German porcelain manufacturers who was allowed by Disney to create figurines of Mickey Mouse. Nowadays company is called Karolina.
The condition is excellent, with slight traces of age and some loses of gilding.
