Included are two very nice Derrydale Press hunting books. Each book is one of 2500 in a limited edition and are a deep red leather/leatherette with gold gilt edges.  Each book measures approximately 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" (with the exception of Tranquility Revisited).

*Tranquility by Colonel Harold P. Sheldon. Originally published in 1936, this copy is a 1991 reprint and one of 2500 in a limited edition. 216 pages. Review by Kirkus Reviews: "...It has everything it takes to win. My only regret is the limited number of copies, for the appeal is legion, and the writing so excellent, that it could easily be a best seller. It is the story of the Judge, who sits solemn and genial on the bench by day, and follows Hozo, his coon dog, on secret and jovial expeditions by night; the captain, grand sportsman, shot and angler, whose sense of humor is delicious as his spirit is rare; of the Dark Haired Lady, who is a ""Model A"" of all the Sportsman's wife should be; of Minnie, who is not; of Mr. Nash (Nash Buckingham, author of De Shootinest Gent'man and Mark Right whom they visit for the shooting on Ole Miss.) These and a dozen other tales of coon hunts, bee hunts, dove shoots, goose pits, ducking, woodcock shooting, supply variety for every taste, while mingled with the story in every case is a detailed description of how it is done. No one can fail to enjoy it, for you weep and laugh, think deeply and profitably, quake and shiver, and bask as you read and reread. It is packed full of sheer delight. Buy your limit for it won't last."

*Tranquility Revisited by Colonel Harold P. Sheldon. Originally published in 1940, this copy is a 1989 reprint and one of 2500 in a limited edition. This is a larger (but thinner) book and measure approximately 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" and has 130 pages.Review by Kirkus Reviews: "...Everyone [who bought] Tranquility will want this volume. The spirit of the place, the charm of the characters of the Adirondacks community, the Judge, the Doctor, the Captain and the Dark Haired Lady still grace the pages of this second book. There duck, woodcock, grouse and trout still feed and sport and life are synonymous. Grand old boys, with their zest for hunting and shooting, their appreciation for the good things of nature, good food, fine weather, beauty, kindliness, and loyalty, their Yankee humor and big heartedness. Sheldon writes with facile pen, his stories make the reader loathe to turn the last page. There's a serene nostalgic quality which every sportsman senses."

*High Country by Rutherford G. Montgomery. Originally published in 1938, this copy is a 1993 reprint and one of 2500 in a limited edition. 216 pages. Very nice deep red leather/leatherette cover with gold gilt edges. Review by Kirkus Reviews: "In High Country... we go west, this time to the Rockies and find once more the adventure and freedom of the great open spaces. The reader almost feels the rareness of the Colorado air, the relaxation at the end of the day as men and guide roll up in their blankets, the tingling excitement as they wake in the chilly morning ravenous for brook trout sizzling to a crisp golden brown. It is different, but so is life in the west and for this reason should have an excellent sale. Men who have hunted or fished there will love to renew the thrill, while those who only know the east have a treat in store for them. The Governor of Colorado, the sheriff, the doctor, the big executive and good old Bill and his bottle of Bourbon, Tex, the wrangler and quaint Hopi Joe, the faithful, superstitious, pathetic Indian, make lovable companions for the stiff trips through rough trails. Bound in terra cotta linen, with label."
