Original and rare large Dodge Brothers snap-in hubcap for wire wheels. The Dodge Brothers started building cars in 1914 in Detroit. The company was purchased by Walter P. Chrysler in 1928 and it is still around today. Online research indicates that this type of cap was used in 1929 and 1930 on the DA, DB and DD six cylinder cars but I do not know exact year, model, or application for this example. 7 1/4" wide, 1" high, 6 5/8" snap-in diameter. These caps were made using a chrome plated brass skin stretched over a full steel backing plate with three spring clip retainers. There was also a cheaper version with only a steel outer ring but the full steel was far more durable. Fair to good used condition, no major bends or cracks, lots of nicks, edge scrapes and scratches. The face with the Dodge Brothers "DB" logo emblem insignia nameplate is sharp and clear and the plating is mostly intact with wear and patination. The backing plate has no deformation or surface rust, all three mounting clips are intact and appear useable. Great for your collection, use as is on a driver, or could be restored. U.S. buyers will pay $15.75 Priority shipping, International shipping cost will vary based on location.
