Chaim Mordechaj Rumkowski (born February 27, 1877 in Ilina (district of Wielkie Łuków),
 died between August 30 and about September 1, 1944 in KL Auschwitz-Birkenau) 
 
Jewish industrialist, Zionist activist, superior (president) of the Eldest of Jews in Łódź 
to liquidation of the Litzmannstadt ghetto at the end of August 1944.

 His activities during this period are usually condemned (accused of collaborating with the Germans),
 although there are also less critical assessments.
