Le Roy Dagobert Sauer American 1894-1959.

Studied at the Cincinnati Academy of Art, Cleveland Art School and Western Reserve University with Henry Keller, Frank W Ernest Peirotto, Hopkins, Meakin, Wessel, George Orr and Lachman. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Dayton Society of Etchers, Ohio Print Makers, Florida Art Assoc.. (prize), Library of Congress (prize) and the Tri State Exhibition to name a few. Sauer was a founder and member of the D Society of Etchers. A member of the Ohio Print makers, The Florida Art association, The Indiana Society of Print Makers, The American Art Training center in Paris et.al.

He has collections in the Dayton Art Institute, Ohio Art and Artist, The Library of Congress and several recognized Galleries throughout Canada and the United States. His art has been offered at many prestigious auction establishments and collected by commercial, private and public companies and individuals alike.

Leroy D Sauer was born and died in Dayton Ohio.

This etching is of a quant back building scene in a small town during the 1930’s or 40’s. A church steeple towers in the background as stark sunlight and shadow dance among the building’s as broken wispy shadow in the trees fill the image.

Condition of this wonderful etching is excellent. No rips tears or repairs. In original period frame Circa 1935-1947.
