The detailed antique map of the Persian Empire during the Shah Safi 1629–1642 who controlled all of what is now Iran, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Armenia, eastern Georgia, parts of the North Caucasus including Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan, as well as parts of Turkey, Syria, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The detailed map is decorated with a beautiful title cartouche depicting the shah in full costume with two attendants. With signature of M. Merian at the bottom right.

Cartographer: Matthäus Merian the Elder was a renowned Swiss engraver, cartographer, and publisher who lived from 1593 to 1650. He is known for his numerous maps and atlases, which were highly influential during his time.
Origin: Theatrum Europaeum (was a journal on the history of the German-speaking lands by Matthäus Merian, published between 1633 and 1738 in 21 quarto volumes.)
