This clock needed refurbished.  I removes the stones and numbers then removed the clear coat with a belt Sander.  I then cleaned it up with 40 grit sand paper on an orbital Sander.  I had to clean up one spot on the lower Pendulum area where a rock was glued, I used the Dremel but did not sand it back to bare wood so that area may not have to be re painted.

I then cleaned the face up with a palm Sander with 120 grit.  It will still sanding and some imperfections filled.  It's a great blank slate that someone invested a lot of time into and it should be easy to finish from here.
