This auction is for GILGAMESH II #1-4 published by DC Comics in 1989.

Gilgamesh II was a four-issue prestige format mini-series written and illustrated by Jim Starlin in which an infant (the last of his doomed race) is rocketed to Earth Superman-fashion, but whose life follows the trajectory of the Gilgamesh legends.

Gilgamesh II #1 - In 1987, a doomed spacecraft released two members of it's alien race onto Earth. Accidentally two males were released, thus permanently dooming their species. One of these children was found by a family of hippies, the other grew up alone in the jungle. 25 years later, Gilgamesh Bonner, the alien raised by hippies, is now the leader of the corporate world, while his counterpart "The Other", also known as Otto, lives wild in the jungle. What circumstances can finally bring these two together, and just how will they react to finally meeting each other?

Gilgamesh II #2 - Now business partners and friends, Gilgamesh and Otto face a new threat together when a mysterious beast known as the Nightshadow is killing workers at a location in Columbia. When Gil and Otto travel to Columbia, can they survive the wrath of this mythical beast? And how will Otto react when Gil finally reveals the secret of his true identity?

Gilgamesh II #3 – Otto has become deathly ill following his encounter with the Nightshadow. Gilgamesh, feeling distraught, spends most of his time with Otto leaving his mother to run the corporate world. But when Gil's adversary uses this chance to finally take him down, Otto uses his last strength to sacrifice himself in Gilgamesh's place.

Gilgamesh II #4 - Following Otto's death, Gilgamesh finds himself withdrawn into a world of drugs and sex. It is then that Gilgamesh realizes what he can do to find out the secret of life, by plunging into the void itself. When Gilgamesh finds what he was looking for, he learns the greatest irony of all, finding that all he has struggled for was in vain when he finds himself 2000 years in the future and forgotten about.
