Warning urging spectators at Briggs Stadium (later Tiger Stadium) in Detroit to not harass African American players or cause destruction of property. C. 1955. 11” x 8.5”.

In good condition, with light bumping and rubbing to corners. Staining to upper-left-hand corner at rear. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing.

A scarce piece of Detroit baseball history, likely produced around 1954-1955 when the Detroit Stars (later the Detroit Clowns and Detroit-New Orleans Stars) first utilized the stadium. The Stars were a Negro League team founded in 1954 and disbanded in 1961. A rare surviving piece that acknowledges the hostile reception and abuse that many Negro League teams received from White baseball fans.
