At first blush, a collector would think this is a common note.  But it is, truly, a genuine sleeper.

There are not even two handfuls of crisp AU or CU notes of the 1929 series on this venerable bank.  Quite surprising!  This makes high grade notes exceedingly RARE.  Census shows over 200 of these notes exist, perhaps as many as 250.  But in high grade, these are truly rare.
Census for AU and CU notes:   1929-1
2 $10 CU-63 (none TPGed);  3 AUs in the $10;  1 CU $20 29-1 and 1 $20 AU-50.
                                                  1929-2
1 $10 CU-63(not TPGed); NO CUs in the $20 and but two lonely $20s in AU-55. This is one of them and NEW to the Census.  Of the nine notes, only 3 are TPGed.  The other two are AU $10 29-1s.   This one is THE ONLY note of the three high grade $20 notes to be TPGed.

Amazingly, Heritage has never, ever sold a 1929-2 note in ANY grade from this bank.  This is truly a rare note.  Only 16 $10 29-2s and 14 $20 29-2s are in the census.  This note is not included in the census.  For a large, early, Cincinnati bank, this is truly an anomaly.

This note appears to be CU.  But upon close examination, one will find a very small corner fold on the upper right hand corner in the margin.   This is only visible if you know where it is and hold it up to a very strong light.   If it would not be for this corner fold, it would be a crisp, crackling CU note!

Before we knew how rare these high grade notes were, the only similar note was an AU-55 $10 29-1 which brought $295 in 2005 here on eBay.  An EF-40 $20 29-2 (TPGed) brought $160 in May of 2022.    Now that we know how rare these notes are, this note should command a strong and unique premium.  We feel the price range of $439 is a fair market price.  CUs of common bank, small size notes are bringing $275 to $350.  This being the highest known grade should bring a premium to that price.

Pricing:  We consider prices from about 2009 to present relevant.  Prices for the first decade of this century were in a heated and frenzied market, so those high(er) prices are NOT relevant.  However, with the last two years, prices have increased approximately 20% due solely to demand for rare and high quality note.    Within the past two years, the Ohio national currency market has shown increased pressure and higher prices are reflected at public auctions for rare and high grade notes.

If you seek quality, this note is for you.  “Good notes are not cheap and cheap notes are not good.”  Ten years from today, these will be the good “ole” days.  This note has no tears, pinholes nor ink stains.

N.B.  Sales tax may be an issue for you when purchasing.  Depending upon the state of delivery, you may have sales tax, you may have none, or you may subject to a threshold tax.  PLEASE ASK.  Ebay tells me they are prepared to give refunds for states which have no tax. even though a sales tax may be implemented at the time of sale.  This seller will always assist you.  I have the information on the sales tax applicability for each state. So please consult me.  I have been instrumental in obtaining over $10,000 in sales tax refunds for my eBay clients.  My service for this is FREE to my clients.    My personal issue: sales tax is a levy on tangible personal property.  By definition, all money is intangible, so why should it be taxed at all?  Ever!

P.S.:  If you are wondering why a dealer from Miami, Florida is dealing in Ohio National Currency, it is because I spend about 6 months of the year in Ohio, as well.  In Ohio, I am known as a dealer’s dealer and am consulted by other dealers and financial institutions for price guidance and as an acquisition specialist.  The point is: my prices are NOT taken out of the air.  They are carefully decided by the market and rationality.
