Sturdy cotton outer, soft and flexible and a thin wool liner throughout for warmth. Zip is an original "new old stock" zip as used on the genuine jackets; attention to detail is incredible. The quality of the construction is really second to none.

It fits a little snug for me, hence selling it on. I usually get away with a 42, but I can't in this case. Fits close to the body and is designed to fit over a thin base layer. A jumper or even a thick shirt under this will be tricky even for a 40" chest.
