I was 8 years old when Dad brought this bad boy home and I absolutely adored it. It was magazine sized and bigger than a comic book. It was a Stan Lee idea to publish bigger stories in a bigger format to make such stories more of an event. This idea was ahead of it’s time. This was the final issue in this format.

But the story and the art were so vibrant. And scary. This Green Goblin was absolutely terrifying to an 8-year-old. Eventually it fell into my brother’s hands and he decided at some point to chop it up to re-edit the story. In the ensuing years, he bought me the book again once or twice and I found a few at shows. Between the magazines and reprints, I think I have six.

But I can say with some authority as a writer and editor who grew up on a steady diet of comic books and boxing magazines that this is the best single issue of any comic book ever produced.

Period.

It has some dings and creases gathered over a half century of life (see the pics) as well as a bookstore date stamp on the cover and some math on the back cover. But if you don’t even have a good reader copy like this in your collection, well, then this is a must buy. And with the holidays just weeks away, this is the ultimate collector's item for any Marvel fan! The Spectacular Spider-Man #2 from 1968 features iconic characters such as J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson, and of course, Spider-Man himself, all beautifully written and illustrated by the legendary duo of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. This first printing, special edition and key issue is boarded in a magazine-sized bag.

Fans of the Silver Age will appreciate the amazing oil-painted cover art by Romita. Don't miss your chance to own - or gift - one of the best comics ever created!
