Here is a system Dell sold as a home PC at the end of 1999.  This month I wiped and tested the hard drive, replaced the battery, and floppy drive, reinstalled WIndows 98 with all necessary drivers reinstalled and tested all hardware.  It is now ready to install your favorite applications, from floppy diskette, CD, or from a USB flash drive.

This is one of Dell's last white systems, in a minitower much smaller than previous Dimension models.  With a CD ROM, floppy drive and hard drive installed there is only one  exposed 3.5" hard drive bay (probably meant for a Zip drive).  This is a micro ATX style case, with a 145W power supply that swings out for access to the motherboard.

The heart of the system is an Intel motherboard with Intel's 810e chipset.  It supports socket 370 Celeron or Pentium III CPUs with front side bus speeds of 66, 100 or 133 MHz.  I include a 500 MHz Intel Pentium III processor with a 100 MHz FSB and 256KB cache.  There are two 168-pin sockets for SDRAM both filled with 256MB DIMMs and maxxed out at 512MB

The Intel motherboard includes connectors for two PS/2 ports, two USB 1.1 ports, a parallel port and a serial port.   Three PCI slots are filled: with a Creative Sound Blaster Audio PCI (Ensoniq ES1373 chip), a 3Com 10/100 ethernet card and a Conexant chip 56K Winmodem. There is still one free PCI expansion slot.

The original floppy drive would no longer read, so I found a new NEC 1.44MB drive which lines up with the eject button on the front of the case.  The original hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar 136AA 13GB.

I am happy to answer any questions about this system before your purchase. You will receive the exact tower case and internal components pictured here.  I do not include any keyboard, monitor, power cord, or software

I do offer a 30 day return privilege but return shipping is at the buyer's expense.  Shipping charges are calculated by eBay with no handling fee.  Local pickup in zip code 60438 is free.
