The EF61 is a direct current electric locomotive for passengers, which was completed in 1961, and has a longer body length than the EF60 EF65 because it is equipped with a steam generator (SG) for heating and a water fuel tank. Is the biggest feature.
Luggage trains operated by EF61 and EF58 are famous.
When it first appeared, it was active in towing the Tokaido Sanyo Main Line express train and the 20-series sleeper limited express train, but later it was repainted with the standard paint color of the new performance DC machine, Blue No. 15.
It was a great supporting player who supported the transportation of the Tokaido Sanyo Main Line during the JNR era, mainly operating luggage trains and freight train towing on the Sanyo Main Line.
It is most suitable as a towing machine for the 10-899 / 1724 postal baggage train "Tokaido Sanyo" 6-car set A / B scheduled to be released at the same time. In addition, when combined with the EF65 towed Blue Train and the 117 series Special Rapid Service, the scene of the Sanyo Main Line can be reproduced.
Commercialized as it was when I belonged to the Hiroshima engine district around 1975. The front of Blue No. 15 reproduces the general color of Cream No. 1.
A single headlight, a side filter light window with a light and smart appearance, and a steam generator (SG) are installed to accurately reproduce the long body length.
