Buckingham first day cover ‘Sounds of Britain’ commemorative set of 5 stamps, which were issued 3 October 2006.

This is a great tribute cover to the King and Queen Of Jazz, Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth, whose picture appears on the front cover and who have both personally signed it.

The Stables is a music venue which hosts hundreds of concerts and education events each year.

This first day cover has been double signed by husband and wife - Cleo Laine and John Dankworth.

There is a gold label on the back of the cover which states:- This official Buckingham FDC which is a tribute to “The King & Queen of British Jazz”, is one of no more than 300, which will be signed by both Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine.

This cover is number 108 of 300.

Sir John Philip William Dankworth, CBE (1927-2010) also known as Johnny Dankworth, was an English jazz composer, saxophonist, clarinettist and writer of film scores. With his wife, jazz singer Dame Cleo Laine, he was a music educator and also her music director.

Dame Cleo Lane DBE (Born Clementine Dinah Bullock; Born 1927) is an English jazz and pop singer and an actress, known for her scat singing and for her vocal range. Though her natural range is that of a contralto, she is able to produce a G above high C, giving her an overall compass of well over three octaves. She is the only female performer to have received Grammy nominations in the jazz, popular and classical music categories. She is the widow of jazz composer and musician Sir John Dankworth.
