This
is the largest of the Austrian blanks with the gold handles. The artistry on
this large vase is simply stunning! Cascades of large hand painted pink roses
on stem and leaf appear on both sides. Because of the style of the roses, when
I bought this vase I expected to find the signature of the Sherratts Studio of
Washington DC but I have been unable to find one. I think that you will agree
that the roses are the work of a master artist. Because of the condition issues
mentioned below, this magnificent vase has been listed with a low starting
price and no reserve…
This
huge vase stands a full 18 inches tall and 10 ½ inches wide across the handles.
When I acquired the vase it arrived with a broken handle that I had restored.
Both handles were then repainted gold. If you look at the picture of the
bottom, you will see that at one time it was drilled for a lamp and the hole
remains with a crack extending to each side next to the green Vienna Austria
Crown mark. The crack does not extend up the sides of the vase. The vase is
marked with a green crown and Austria under the glaze, dating the piece to the
turn of the century. Please examine all of the
photographs as they are considered part of the description and feel free to ask
any questions that you may have…
