BARBIE AS CINDERELLA

Once upon a time a beautiful girl named Cinderella lived with a stepmother and two stepsisters, who made her do all the housework and wear ragged clothes.

One day, the king gave a ball and invited all the eligible young ladies to meet his son.

The stepsisters left for the dance in their finest fashions, taunting Cinderella, who had to stay behind.

Cinderella's fairy godmother heard her crying, and said, "If you want to go to the ball, you will." She magically turned a pumpkin into a beautiful coach, six mice into fine horses, lizards into footmen, and a rat into a coachman.

Then, she waved her magic wand over Cinderella, and said, "You, my dear, shall have the most beautiful gown at the ball, and the prettiest slippers in the world."

As Cinderella joytully left for the palace, her godmother warned her, "Don't stay a minute after midnight, or your coach will become a pumpkin, and everything else will change back, too."

But Cinderella forgot, because the minute she entered the ballroom, she was treated like a princess. Everyone murmured how beautiful she was, and how gracefully she danced.

The prince fell in love with her and stayed by her side all evening.

When the clock struck twelve, Cinderella fled in a panic, leaving one of her glass slippers behind. The next day, the prince proclaimed that he would marry the girl whose foot fit the slipper.

All the ladies in the kingdom tried on the shoe, but it wouldn't fit. Then,

Cinderella, to the jeers of her sisters, tried, and the slipper fit perfectly.

The prince and Cinderella were married. And, because Cinderella was as kind as she was beautiful, she found two lords at the court for her sisters to marry. And everyone lived happily ever after.

Adapted from the classic fairy tale by Perrault.
