This is a nicely done model of the short lived BMW Z1. Made by Revell in China in 1990.
It is in the now hard to find RED color (# 8620) vs the green and later black versions offered.
For those that may remember the BMW Z1 it was a innovatively designed sports car. BMW introduced the car in red.
I purchased this new in the 1990's and displayed it outside the box briefly. Since that time it has been kept in its box on a closet shelf in my smoke free home.
While used, the model is in excellent like new condition. Please note in the pictures that the windshield and rear window are still nice and clear. There are others I have seen where the windshield and rear window are now cloudy and yellowed. The display stand is in very good condition, too.The box does show some wear however. See pictures.
Also, do note that Revell had a typo with its labeling of this model. Note on the box top, front, and ends it says BMW Z1. On the bottom of the box in the model list it shows BMW Z-1 for 8620 (Red) and 8624 (Green). Also on the display stand if you look closely at the label it again is BMW Z-1. BMW is very picky about correct use of its model names by licensees. This car's model name was Z1, not Z-1. I am sure this generated some conversations between Revell and BMW.
