A very large Elwell cleaver. Marked 1941. It's big, heavy and I suspect unused. It came to me coated in a black sticky tar like substance which had congealed with the wrapping paper. As a result I cleaned it all off.


Other than a few chips to the end of the handle, which are probably from storage/movement, there are no signs of use. There is no sign of any sharpening and the edge is smooth. In my opinion this Cleaver has never been used and bar the minor chips to the handle is "as manufactured".
