Frank Stella "Cato Manor" Lithograph, 1972
Signed, Numbered, Stamped, & Framed

The title "Cato Manor" refers to racial disturbances in South Africa, as Cato Manor was the site of riots and a massacre of sixty-nine black protestors in 1960 during apartheid.

This piece is part of a six lithograph series called "Multicolored Squares", each of which references a location where racial disturbances occurred.

FRAMING

I did not open the frame for inspection. Visible with the frame unopened is the following:
  • Plexiglass box frame, into which the full margins of the sheet fit perfectly.
  • Front plexiglass panel is smooth and clear. Side, top, and bottom panels are textured with a "frosted" appearance.
  • A wooden structural element is behind the print, wrapped in white
  • The sides, the top, and the bottom of the plexiglass box are screwed into the wooden structural element, with two screws per side. These screw heads intentionally are visible on the exterior of the plexiglass box.

CONDITION
  • Excellent condition with the exception of a few very minor scratches on the frame, visible upon very close inspection.
