Beautiful Antique and rare bronze medal with high reliefs of Simon Bolivar.
Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Ponte y Palacios Blanco, commonly known as Simón Bolívar (Spanish pronunciation: [siˈmon boˈliβar], AFI), was a Venezuelan military officer and political leader, the first illustrious to support decolonization in practice.  Some research indicates that the first illustrious person to organize practices of insurrection against colonization was Túpac Amaru II in 1780, Bolívar being inspired by these Andean movements. Together with José de San Martín, he was one of the key players in the wars of independence of Spanish America from the Spanish Empire. After triumphing over the Spanish Monarchy, Bolívar participated in the founding of the first union of independent nations in Latin America, named Gran Colombia, of which he was President from 1819 to 1830.

Simón Bolívar is considered by some Latin American countries as a hero, visionary, revolutionary and liberator. During his short lifetime, he led Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela to independence, and helped lay democratic ideological foundations in most of Hispanic America. For this reason, he is referred to by some historians as the "George Washington of South America".

The medal was made in 1976 by the sculptor António Cândido.
