Volkswagen beetle late 1967 (F reg) - Grey - for restoration - Mileage on the odometer is 21,016 (please assume this is not accurate)

This is my late 1967 (F reg) VW beetle registered 03/11/1967.  It was previously modified & restored many years ago but then sat for a long period outside. I have the V5 in my name and it is currently sorn.

It is in need of full restoration. It is currently painted grey. It rolls freely, the tyres are old but hold air. The steering works and all the suspension and brakes are still in place as is the gearbox. An engine is included but it is not the original nor is it fitted. It is partially stripped down. I believe this a 1300cc unit but not totally sure, it is not in the best condition but is pretty complete with tinware, solex carb, exhaust parts etc. it may be salvageable but if not the block may be useful for an exchange engine. The car appears to have a lowered front beam and a front disc brake conversion, I do not know the condition of either.

The front slam panel & heater channels have rusted out/ gone on both sides and I suspect the car requires a body off restoration, as I doubt that is the limit of the rust, so please do bear that in mind.

The outer bodywork can be seen to be rusty in places as can be seen from the photos, however some panels may be salvageable. The front indicators, door handles and bonnet handle have been deleted/smoothed. There is a solenoid on the drivers door but I have no idea if it works. It has backdated front wings with US spec slopping headlights and all red rear lights. It has a half W deck lid that has had the number plate light and fixing deleted/smoothed. The deck lid is not currently attached but the hinges are included. It has a long bonnet and this is in poor condition with rust holes in the centre. (Unfortunately I shut the bonnet many years ago and can’t seem get it open) the running boards are single piece smooth metal, with some rust as can be seen.

The windows all seem good, grey tinted glass one piece door and side windows. Windscreen and rear screen are clear. All the fitted rubbers are black one piece rubber versions. There is also a boxed spare brand new bugpack one piece front window included, this appears to be the same grey tint.

The interior is stripped and there are carpets piled where the back seat would be they look okay but probably assume some or all need replacing. Headlining looks nice but has come away on one side. It has a smoothed dash - which appears to be an fibreglass overlay and was fitted very well - the original dash is behind this but I have no idea on its condition. There are two fabricated seat mountings but no seats are included. There are a set of custom interior door panels, the cloth is okay and may clean up, they could be used for templates as the hardboard is warped. It has an empi style shifter and two part leather sports steering wheels included.

It has a key for the ignition, the locking fuel cap and the locking wheel nut caps.

The wheels are I believe 15” Proline alloy wheels and are actually in very good condition no curbing I can see and would clean up well. These are single piece wheels as far as I know.

There is a Haynes manual and Haynes service book included too.

The car was sat outside for many years before I got it but has been stored in a dry garage for the last 8 years as I had every intention of restoring it but life has got in the way and I can’t see myself ever doing it.

Collection from Horley, Surrey (near gatwick airport) and you WILL need a trailer or low loader as it does not run and would not be safe to tow on the road.
