Vintage 15" x 5.5" Kelsey-Hayes Steel Wheel K  54

One 1950s or 1960s vintage steel automobile wheel as manufactured by Kelsey-Hayes. This unit is marked with a p/n of 54 and then KH on it. No other information on it.

Some basics about this wheel - 5 wheel stud ug pattern. 5 hub cap clips. Hub diameter hole is 2.5" and this wheel also has a "pin" hole for placement on a specific hub... I've noted this "pin" hole on 1940s Plymouth and Dodge wheels. I suspect this wheel could be for that application as well, but don't know with certainty. This is a 15" wheel and 5.5" width. This is a welded wheel, not hot box riveted like Motor Wheel products of the 1940s. If measuring center to center wheel stud distance on the axel assembly this is for a 4.5" stud to stud width. Still retains a little (OK, a LOT) of lead balance weight.

We removed this wheel from a 1942 General Electric searchlight generator that had been used in the outdoor advertising industry. This is NOT an original GE searchlight wheel (although it fits, the original pattern was a 16-inch assembly) and is redundant to our needs.

Wheel condition is great. This one has no visible bends or damage. Bolt holes are not oversized. Paint condition on this is poor, but no major rot or rust or pitting beyond surface rust. Hub cap clips are complete. Sandblast this wheel and paint it and it's good to go for whatever application you might have for it. Bid is for this wheel only but we have a couple of others that appear similar if you are hunting for multiples. Enquire.
