Today I’m offering a piece of Hollywood history with this professionally framed, vintage portrait of Betty Grable. This overall 13.5 inch by 9.5 inch professionally framed piece features the iconic actress from the movie, Sweet Rosie O'Grady (1943).

Now, it appears the portrait is signed. I cannot vouch for its authenticity. It came in a lot of other autographs I bought in a local auction in Ohio in 2019. My eyes caught a beautifully framed picture of Frank Gorshin portraying The Riddler in the old ABC TV show “Batman.” The listing said the lot included “5 movie star photos including Betty Gable, Marty Feldman and The Riddler.”

I had met Adams West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig and Julie Newmar and had their autographs, but needed Gorshin’s so I bought the lot. Each was beautifully framed. I also saw the other lots offered for bid in the same auction from this collection that were also signed and framed and they all clearly came from a passionate collector of TV and film memorabilia.

I also received Marty Feldman and an Ingrid Bergman signed/framed photographs in this lot and they all appeared legitimate. So while this photograph appears signed by Betty Grable, since I can’t prove it, I lowered the opening bid to reflect both the lack of authenticity but also the nice, 81-year-old professionally framed portrait of one of the greatest Hollywood stars of her era.

Wikipedia tells us: “Betty Grable was the number one box-office attraction at the time of this film's release. Her other film that year was Coney Island, and this movie was also an enormous success. Both Coney Island and Sweet Rosie O'Grady were among the top 10 high-grossing films of 1943 and were two of 20th Century Fox's big money makers that year.”

Display it proudly in your home or office and feel like a part of the Golden Age of Hollywood. This piece is perfect for fans of vintage cinema and Betty Grable's legendary career.
