M42 Helios 44M 58mm F/2 Lens With Petzval Mod

This legendary Russian lens is a clone of the Carl Zeiss Biotar, and in standard form, is renowned for it's distinctive and attractive image quality and bokeh.

This version has had the "Petzval Mod" carried out which radically alters the character of the lens.

Images now have a surreal "dreamy" look with a glowing, soft focus effect, and the swirly bokeh increased to all new levels!

Images from this lens have a distinctive and other worldly appeal to them without needing to apply software special effect filters!

Please be aware that his lens is modified specifically to give a special effect. The effect is strongest with the aperture wide open and decreases gradually as you close the aperture down.

The lens has an M42 screw mount and can be easily adapted to fit most modern camera brands.

**Be aware that some sellers dishonestly use photos taken with the £500 Lomography Petzval lens as sample images. Some are even careless enough to leave in the watermark with the name of the test photographer (Richard Wong) The Lomography lens gives a very different look to the converted Helios, and those sample images are NOT representative of the kind of effects you can achieve with a converted Helios**

The lens is in good working condition overall for a vintage item, with just normal signs of use in line with it's age! Some dust specs as is to be expected with a used lens.

Both the focus and aperture mechanisms function smoothly and positively.

The lens comes supplied with front + rear caps.

Here is an image of the lens you are bidding on (camera NOT included!)

And here are some sample images, to show you what its capable of!

I take my feedback very seriously and always go the extra mile with my listings, including taking the time to shoot sample photos with each pre-owned lens I sell, so you know exactly what kind of results you can expect!
