This is WONDERFUL! Uncovered in a local estate in south Texas wrapped in old newspaper and packed away with other Christmas items. Hand carved and painted wooden figure of Mary holding the baby Jesus with what appears to be either a saint or a priest kneeling and looking up with hands raised. One arm of the priest(?) was missing when found. The priest has tonsured hair. It is mounted on a painted board and the front edge of the board was missing also. This is obviously very old but is still in wonderful condition in spite of the two defects. Mary stands about 17” tall. She is wearing a crown and a long robe and you can see one of her feet sticking out under the robe. She is on a wooden pedestal of a greenish blue with gold stars. This is two separate figures mounted onto a flat painted board. Photos were taken under lamp light and without a flash. I have found others similar but not very close to this. It is very unique. Don’t know if it was brought here from the “old country” by ancestors or purchased from an antique shop years ago. I have seen antique carved figures missing all the hands and still brought a great price. THIS IS QUITE UNIQUE AND STILL LOOKS WONDERFUL! I have done no cleaning on this other than gently brushing dirt off with a small, soft paint brush. BEST OFFER.
