A scarce piece from Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen (1778-1851), a German composer and teacher at the Prussian Academy of Arts. A fan of Bach, Rungenhagen promoted and assisted in the performance of many of his works, including conducting the first performance of St. John’s Passion following the composer’s death. August Zshiesche (1800-1876) was a German bass singer in Berlin.
