4 133 - CHOICE ROMAN MILITARY CAVALRY MASK
HELMET (late 1st.
Century A.D),
REPLICA!!!
You are bidding for a Replica of a Roman Cavalry Mask Helmet, dating to
the late 1st. Century A.D.
The
Original mask helmet was found in the ruins mound Necropolis in the region of villa-rustic Tchatalka,
near to the ancient roman town AUGUSTA TRAJANA (
present days STARA ZAGORA ,BULGARIA). At the moment it is for display in the
Archaeological Museum in Stara Zagora. The helmet is thought to have been used for ceremonial
occasions rather than for combat. Similar helmets found in Britain are the
Ribchester Helmet (found
in 1796) and the Newstead Helmet (found in 1905), though it has closer
parallels with helmets found in Southern Europe.
The Replica is made of some kind of resin and painted
with special lacks to imitate old brass patina.
This is a perfect artefact for your home interior or
for a precious gift to a friend.
