Original American poster printed in fall 1917 to support the Second Liberty Loan, a war bond drive to help the US government finance its participation in the First World War.

Artist is Eugenie De Land Saugstad, a painter and longtime teacher at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. She was one of very few women to contribute a poster design to the US war effort. The image is simple, effective, and ultra-patriotic (featuring both the Statue of Liberty and Old Glory, the latter represented as the sky at dusk / dawn.

Poster measures 20 x 30 inches and is newly linen-backed on 7 oz cotton duck and acid-neutral paper with an alkaline reserve to counteract future toning and deterioration of the paper. Excellent condition; no traces of fold lines since poster was always stored rolled. There are two photos, one with and one without flash

Poster will ship rolled in a heavyweight tube. Flat $20 shipping fee for lower 48 US states. Actual shipping charged to other destinations using a carrier of the buyer's choice.

I have been collecting, linen-backing, and restoring vintage posters for over 20 years. I work regularly with serious collectors and resellers across the US, Canada, Europe, and even Australia. I do better work and charge less than any of the high-volume, "professional" companies in the field. Please contact me if you would like information about rates, references, or photos of prior restoration projects. I am happy to give binding estimates based on high-resolution photos.
