About “21”…..

A magnet for the who's who of society, drawing in an array of influential figures. Its clientele boasted a remarkable roster of U.S. presidents and a constellation of stars. The club was frequented by political figures like Richard Nixon and Franklin D. Roosevelt, literary legends including Ernest Hemingway and Hollywood icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey ‘Bogie’ Bogart … in fact at table 30 in the bar room you could often spot ‘Bogie’ sipping a Ramos Gin Fizz.

It wasn't just a dining spot but a social institution where the elite convened, from debutantes to captains of industry, all finding their way to its storied rooms for a taste of luxury and exclusivity.

It was here that Felix Rohatyn of Lazard Freres met with other NYC moguls and planned saving the City from bankruptcy in the 1970’s.

It was at ‘21’ on one rainy night, that Robert Benchley, renowned American humorist, uttered “get me out of this wet coat and into a dry martini”

Sadly 21 closed permanently in December 2020.
