This '80 Album release was a brand new era yet once again ! for the Good Ol' Grateful Dead ... and this was indeed their 1st step into " The '80's " !!! Commonly referred to by Dead Fans as the " Brent-Era " ! ... this was indeed the 1st Studio Album release with Brent Mydland in the Keyboard position - carrying that responsibility with Excellence ! As Brent was eventually a long-term true member of the one & only Grateful Dead - playing with them, and at times even co-leading them in their Live ! Shows !! In fact, Brent sang Four ( 4 ) of the Nine ( 9 ) Tracks on the Last / Final Album by the Grateful Dead ' Built To Last ' released in 1989 ! Brent was a member of the Band all the way through 1990 - for a close to 11-year period - until his untimely passing in August of 1990. There will only be one Brent ! - and on this Album - it is still the early-days ... where though he is indeed a Rookie - you can just feel the vibes - and the potential of his talents - and the capacity ! The importance of this Go To Heaven album was just Huge ! for the Band - as Eight ( 8 ) of the Nine ( 9 ) Tracks on this release were masterfully refined into Live-Concert staples - all the way through the Mid/Late-'80's - with some even remaining strong all the way to the Band's Last & Final Touring Year of 1995. For me personally ... and in my Era of G.D. Fandome - Go To Heaven " Is ! " the Grateful Dead !!! And this Album - I will always & have-always loved. Nine ( 9 ) Amazing !
